Congratulations to Amy Prickett, Jami Mills, and Mary Wilson at Cahaba Elementary

Prompting Our Student Speakers!

They were rewarded a MUSH Grant to sponsor the purchase of a teleprompter for our students at CES, primarily our students who participate in the TedEd Enrich Program.

4th and 5th-grade students at Cahaba have the opportunity to participate in TedEd. TED-Ed is TED’s youth and education initiative. TED-Ed’s mission is to spark and celebrate the ideas of teachers and students around the world. Everything we do supports learning — from producing a growing library of original animated videos to providing an international platform for teachers to create their own interactive lessons to helping curious students around the globe bring TED to their schools and gain presentation literacy skills, to celebrating innovative leadership within TED-Ed’s global network of over 250,000 teachers. TED-Ed has grown from an idea worth spreading into an award-winning education platform that serves millions of teachers and students around the world every week.

Students at Cahaba work collaboratively and independently with their peers and teachers to create an idea worth sharing. Students scaffold the creation of their presentation by learning the writing, presentation, and creative process that goes into delivering a strong speech to an audience. Students create graphic organizers, flip grids, and multiple drafts before finally creating their final product. After creating their final product, they create TedEd Films recording a live presentation to their parents, peers, and loved ones! A teleprompter would be an awesome aid for students’ presentations/speeches.
